Company ProfileYellow
Daffodils Wig Salon & Post Mastectomy Boutique opened in 1997.
It is a very specialized shop, catering to women needing wigs due to
chemotherapy, alopecia, or thinning hair; and also catering to women who are in
need of mastectomy products due to surgery for a mastectomy or lumpectomy. The shop is
owned and staffed by cancer survivors. The
owner, Marguerite Spina, is a 13 year survivor of breast cancer.
After finding the lump in her left breast, she had a mastectomy.
In addition, she had chemotherapy and lost all her hair.
Her uncomfortable experiences in trying to obtain a wig plus get fitted
for a breast prosthesis and mastectomy bras, made her certain that women
definitely needed a shop that would provide a warm, friendly atmosphere, plus
the much needed individual and personal attention.
Having breast cancer and hair loss is a tragic experience, and the shop
and staff help women keep their self esteem.
The shop is sort of a mini support group.
Many women come in just to talk with the owner or staff members.
It’s sort of a bonding between women that are going through a similar
experience. The shop
carries regular, petite, and large cap wigs; plus a line of men’s and
children’s wigs. There is a large
selection of hats, turbans, bangs, and scarves also available. For the woman
in need of mastectomy items, the shop carries a full line of silicone breast
forms, lightweight breast forms, mastectomy bras, swim forms, swim suits,
exercise clothing, and lingerie.
